Girl Scout Round-Up '59

Quickly re-cutsifying this blog after the last few posts (especially after that Boy Scout image-- whoa!), we now take a look at some menu and recipe tips for a giddy girl scout occasion round-up, courtesy of the Campbell Soup Company, 1959! There're a lot of tasty treat ideas here, as well as incredibly adorable artwork (uncredited.) Is this about the cutest thing ya ever did see?

Sex Education Class

We all remember high school Sex Ed class, right? Was it anything like today's story? I don't know about you, but we didn't separate the boys and girls for two completely different talks, in two different rooms-- we just watched some creaky old film, and giggled over most of the stuffy, outdated proceedings anyway! So, for you out there reading this, maybe things were more like the one as depicted in the Oct '74 issue of National Lampoon Magazine Vol. 55... and if it was, tell us about it! I rounded out the post with a few other jaw droppingly hysterical (and questionable) images from the same issue. Okay, I've been warning you about this post all week, so don't blame me if you wandered back here looking' for cutsie cookbook art or xmas cards! :P

Clampax Poontons Handbook

Hilariously tasteless spoof on feminine hygiene booklets, as only 70's National Lampoon could deliver (from the Oct. '74 issue, Vol. 55.) Got some NL sex education for ya in our next post!

Major League Sluts '74 **ADULTS ONLY!**

If you saw my recent, diseased post over at THE HORRORS OF IT ALL (HERE!), then you already know of my plan to post more from the wonderfully offensive October 1974 issue of National Lampoon Magazine Vol. 55. And this titillating twist on Major League Baseball cards couldn't be more so! I'm sure some of you will hate me for this, but sorry guys 'n gals, if you don't have a sense of humor, then you have no business visiting this blog in the first place!

More from this issue up next too!

Raunchy Roach Tees

I used to love these early 70's Roach tee shirt ads in magazines when I was a kid, but damn, they always crammed so many examples with the mail order box that they were  forced to display the designs very small, just teeny thumbnails that I used to wish I could somehow blow up BIG. Well, 35+ years later I am finally doing it-- and doing it at 600%!!! Hell, that could be a Roach tee design: "BLOW IT UP BIG!" with a pic of a scantily clad lass and a sweaty, leering scanner! They also sold the usual assortment of timely dope, hippy, and truckin' designs, but these "adult" ones were always my fave. Anyone have a Roach tee they still wear?

How's Your Driving?

I was watching a kooky animated driving short on youtube earlier today, and it reminded me that I have this totally cool booklet from 1952 with fun illustrations and assorted safety tips. Pretty sure that's Hunter S. Thompson on page 8...

Ortho Garden Digest '53

Just in time for all of your end of summer gardening needs (AEET does it again!) comes artistic highlights from this great little 50's booklet published by the California Spray-Chemical Corporation, Richmond, CA. This 35+ page guide seriously has it all for indoor / outdoor plant care; beauty, fertilizing, charting, weed control, bugs, etc... and what it really has that other booklets of this type don't is all of the super amazing Wyatt & Wallace key art generously sprinkled throughout. Enjoy this post-- and be happy we finally figured out what was up with the scanner!
